recent craft projects

I forgot to take photos of my 'made' gifts this year, but I did get some time this fall and winter to do some knitting and sewing for myself!  The knitting projects are from Knitting 24/7 and there are lots of other fun projects in the book I am looking forward to trying.

 Mittens in process:

Throw blanket I made and had quilted (totally worth it!). I thought it would be handy to have a new throw around for nursing and cuddling with baby rush.

And this is a duvet cover I am in the process of making for our bed.  I love having my craft room all set up, I have done more sewing this fall than I have the last few years combine!  So nice to leave projects and the sewing machine out and ready to go.

holiday fun 2010

Christmas Morning:  Lizzie LOVES candy canes!

 Trying out the new snowshoes

Check this out, it is a soap holder.  There is a magnet with a few teeth on it that sink into the soap and then hang from this wall mounted thingy.  Definitely a cool gadget that John found for me, straight from Japan!

This is what I opened for Christmas from John, which translated too.....
This!  We had a great day yesterday chair hunting (well it was fun to spend the day together, but we could have done without visiting every furniture store in Maine).  In the end, we found this chair at Richard Parks in Ellsworth and it has all the features we wanted.  ie. the impossible chair.  We wanted a recliner, glider, swivel chair that was not over sized/over stuffed.  It is much harder than it sounds.  Thanks babe for the wonderful gift and your patience during the shopping process!

holiday house

Some pretty excited homeowners got one heck of a christmas present this past week, their home was delivered and set on Dec 23rd!

new wood stove

John got his new wood stove last month, but I don't think it made the blog yet.  Clearly griffin loves it! There is some glass facing grif, so we can enjoy the light from the fire.  It is a wood gasification stove and is connected into our domestic hot water (as are our solar collectors) and into our hot water heating system (baseboard and radiant).  Anyway, we have actually turned the propane furnace off!  Pretty exciting!  The woodstove is a Sedore.

solstice fun

Lizzie enjoys the annual winter solstice bonfire party at the farm.

Solstice party goers with the tower lights and hay tree in the back ground.

And the main attraction

And the house is officially ready for the holidays.  We hosted the rush family party this year, nice to have a house that suits such a gathering!

John and Grif have fun at the Rush family holiday party 2010.

34 weeks and growing

Ok, so after looking at this photo, let me just say I feel WAY  bigger than I look!  6 more weeks of growing?  OMG!
